Ever notice how some business owners seem to be everywhere? Their business visibility is onnnnn point! They’re speaking on all the podcasts, killing it on social media, and collaborating with your Dream 100. And here you are, just wondering if they ever sleep! 😴
They didn’t start out being everywhere at all times, though. Those folks you’re aspiring to be started exactly where you are—taking small, consistent steps that snowballed into bigger opportunities. The secret isn’t doing All The Things… it’s doing the right things consistently. With the right strategies in place, you can create business growth through speaking and collaborations—one little step at a time!
Why Small Business Visibility Wins Create Big Impact
Let’s be real: trying to do ALL the visibility things at once isn’t going to get you where you wanna go. You’re just going to end up burned out and exhausted, and probably hating your business that you used to love.
When you focus on small wins instead, though, you’ll start to see magic. You’ll build confidence through, ahem, realistic goals without burning out in the process. That creates momentum that draws in new opportunities that just keep building on each other. You might even actually enjoy the visibility-building process! (imagine that 🤪)
Even something as seemingly simple as sending one email to your list each week or sharing one of your speaking opportunities, like a guest podcast appearance, can spark connections that grow your business. Those little actions end up compounding over time, creating a snowball effect that builds your business visibility naturally—and sustainably.
When you show up consistently (even if you’re starting small!), people start to recognize you on the virtual streets. You gain confidence every time you create a visibility win for yourself, and that confidence compounds. A ripple effect begins with your small actions and can grow into bigger visibility and business growth opportunities. Those opportunities start coming to you instead of you having to hunt them down! 🙌
5 Small, High-Impact Visibility Tactics for Business Growth
Sometimes the smallest things have the biggest impact on your business. That could look like…
- Weekly Emails: Showing up in your audience’s inbox just once a week is 52 chances a year to connect with them! Your emails don’t have to be long—just share value and let them take action. Those consistent touchpoints build trust, demonstrate expertise, and keep you top of mind with your audience when an opportunity comes up.
- Guest Podcasting: We’re all about quality over quantity here at Visibility Ecosystem, so I don’t want you pitching a million podcasts! Focus on right-fit podcasts (the kind that get you in front of your dream clients), and remember that it’s okay to start small. Even pitching just one podcast a week to land a podcast appearance each month is a great starting point! (If you want a boost, though, check out the No-Fuss Podcast Tours.)
- Engaging with Your Community: Just 15 minutes a day in the right communities can land you visibility opportunities you may not have dreamed of! That could be Facebook groups, Instagram, Threads (my favorite!), LinkedIn—you name it. Share value without expecting anything in return… but don’t be surprised if you do end up seeing value from it in the long run! 😉
- Content Repurposing: This isn’t just copy-pasting. My friend Felly is a pro at this, and she can take one blog post, email, what-have-you, and create ten pieces of fresh content from it to share elsewhere! We do the same thing around here with visibility opportunities like guest podcast and virtual summit speaking appearances: we turn them into 9-12 social media posts for our retainer clients so they can stay active on there without burning out.
- Focused Social Media: You don’t need to be on all the socials. Just pick one platform where you know your audience hangs out and start there. It’s way better to be magnetic on one platform than so-so on five!
How to Create Your Strategic Business Visibility Plan
Ready to start your own visibility snowball?
Step 1: Choose Your Visibility Superpower
Pick one visibility option that leans into what you’re naturally good at and enjoy doing. If you have fun talking to people on video, start there. If you’d rather write, that’s great too. Whatever you pick, it shouldn’t be overwhelming and it should get you in front of your right-fit audience—and most of all, it should feel fun, okay?! 🙃
Step 2: Design Your Visibility Consistency Schedule
You’ve gotta create a plan to stay consistent! Decide how often you’ll get visible (I recommend once a week to start), what day and time you’ll commit to doing it, and figure out what you need to make it happen. Don’t forget to choose a way you’ll hold yourself accountable! That could be a friend, a project management tool… or a gold star chart, if you’re feeling retro.
Step 3: Create Your Visibility Support System
Keep track of your progress as you do this. Pay attention to when you feel drained versus when you’re psyched and energized. That’s going to give you clues on what to keep doing and what to toss out the airlock going forward. Find a friend to cheer you on, too! Accountability can make a huge difference in whether your visibility plan succeeds.
Measuring ROI: Track Your Visibility Growth Results
Okay, now we’re getting to the good stuff. When you consistently get visible, even just with one small thing a week, things start happening. You get recognized. Invites start coming to you, instead of you having to go find them. You get more confident, and your content marketing feels easier. Your network gets bigger, and people start referring you to others, both to work with you and for speaking and collaborations. 🙌
It’s kind of like compound interest in a visibility bank account. Every time you get visible, you’re putting a coin in that account. The more coins you put in and the more consistent you are with it, the more you start to notice the interest grow. After a while, you’ll realize your visibility is cashing exponential checks for your business!
Here are some things you can track and celebrate as you increase your business visibility:
Quick wins to celebrate:
- DMs saying “I see you everywhere these days!” or mentioning a visibility opportunity
- Tags in “who should I follow” or other recommendation threads
- Invitations to speak on podcasts, virtual summits, and other visibility opportunities
Share the visibility wins that you’ll celebrate in the comments!
Visibility growth indicators:
- Your email list growing because of speaking opportunities like guest podcasts
- Collaboration invites from right-fit partners
- Getting mentioned on other websites organically
- Client inquiries or bookings mentioning having seen you in multiple places
Bonus tip: Add a label to incoming emails with wins or visibility growth indicators! I’ve got an “Encouragement” label in my business Gmail folders, and it’s really great to be able to look at that when I’m feeling discouraged or just need a pick-me-up.
Starting Small: Your 30-Day Business Visibility Action Plan
You don’t really need permission, but if it feels like you do, consider this to be your official permission slip to stop doing All The Things. You just need to pick one small thing to do consistently. Your visibility and business will grow from there.
Let’s get started! Here’s a quick breakdown of what your 30-day visibility plan could look like:
Week 1: Focus on Your Visibility Foundation
- Choose your one visibility strategy (just one!)
- Set up a visibility tracking system (it doesn’t have to be fancy)
- Schedule time on your calendar for your visibility action
Week 2: Visibility Opportunity Creation
- Create your first piece of content OR pitch yourself to a podcast or collaborator (depending on what strategy you chose)
- Share your content OR talk about your visibility action publicly! Make sure you’re sharing on a right-fit platform, too
Week 3: Increase Your Visibility through Engagement
- Respond to comments on your post and comment on posts from others on related topics
- Keep track of what lights you up while you do this!
Week 4: Analysis and Adjustment
- Review your visibility wins (both big and small!)
- Make note of what energized you and lit you up in all of this
- Make any adjustments needed, then plan your next 30 days accordingly
Remember: Your business visibility snowball might start as a tiiiiiny little snowflake, but as you keep rolling that snowball down the hill, it’ll grow and grow until it starts to roll on its own. The best time to start rolling that snowball was probably yesterday, but tomorrow is just about as good! 😉
